Our Comments Policy

Contributions to this website are moderated to make sure they don’t break our rules. The following rules and guidelines are to protect both you and us, and our moderators will remove contributions that break the rules.

This website is set up to automatically hold any comments for moderation, which may delay your comment from appearing. Please be patient. We don’t work 24/7 so it may take a while to approve a comment.

  • You may comment anonymously. We don’t recommend this and we may change this rule if it is abused. Please be aware that anonymous comments will be moderated more carefully than others and we will not enter into any debate about why an anonymous comment has been declined.
  •

  • You may disagree with us and other commenters. We welcome debate. However, we ask that if you disagree with us or anyone else, you do so in a way that is respectful.
  •

  • We reserve the right to decline comments that, in our sole opinion, are libelous, defamatory, unlawful, harassing, abusive, offensive, threatening, misleading, obscene, sexually suggestive, racist, sexist, homophobic or that incite or promote hatred of any group or individual. We’ll also decline any attempt to advertise, solicit, or otherwise promote goods and services. Basically, this is our website and we don’t have an obligation to publish your comments. We’re very happy to point you in the right direction to set up your own blog if you really want to express your opinions openly.
  •

  • We do not edit comments. If a comment is approved, then it is as the commenter wrote it.
  •

  • A comment that does not add to the conversation, runs off at an inappropriate tangent, or kills the conversation may be declined.
  •

  • Anyone who violates this Comments Policy may be blocked from commenting on ScillyToday. Sometimes our automated spam filter will block a legitimate comment. If you think this has occurred, please contact us on newsdesk@scillytoday.com.
  •

  • Your contributions to ScillyToday are published and viewable to the general public. In submitting your comments you assign all rights to ScillyToday for use and publication of your contribution. If you are unwilling to grant ScillyToday copyright to your contribution you should not submit it to the site.
