Scilly Is Chosen For Tech Company Charity Challenge

Three-peak-challenge-group-photoThe RNLI and Scilly’s Wildlife Trust will benefit from a charity challenge taking place on the islands in July.

It’s part of an annual event organised by computer giant Acer UK, where they challenge technology journalists to “get out of London and raise money for charity.”

Previous events have taken in the Three Peaks and the Outer Hebrides.

From Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd July, twelve tech journalists and the Acer UK team will take part in the Acer Scilly Walk, crossing all five inhabited islands on foot.

The group are also working with Nick Lishman at Adventure Scilly, and taking part in a 500m open sea swim from Tresco to Bryher, as well as kayaking and coasteering.

On the final day, they’ll be helping the Wildlife Trust on St Agnes, cleaning beaches and learning about Scilly’s wildlife.

A Just Giving page has been set up and the group are aiming to raise £5,000 for the RNLI. Acer UK will be donating a further £100 to the Isle of Scilly Wildlife Trust.
