Chairman Concerned About ‘Noisy’ Signs

porthcressa signsMore advertising signboards are going up at Porthcressa Bank.

Planners have agreed to add four new spaces, which will means there’ll now be seven blocks of advertising.

Cllr Fran Grottick hoped that the extra spaces might prevent unofficial signs, “popping up all over the place.”

Fran warned that those pavement signs could obstruct pedestrians and the Council should “give a thought to the public realm.”

And Cllr Gordon Bilsborough wanted monitoring of the type of signs that were being erected.

But Council Chairman Amanda Martin had a different concern.

She told the meeting that she had been for a walk and could hear the signs.

They were “banging and clattering” in the wind, making “an awful noise.”

She wanted action because she said the disturbance “must be horrendous” for people living nearby.

Planner Lisa Walton confirmed the message would be sent back to the workers who will place the boards.
