St Mary’s Harbour Update From Harbourmaster Dale Clark

Kier continue to work in all areas on the quay as the quay project heads ever nearer towards completion

The tug Polmear and NATO vessel remain in St. Mary’s harbour

The harbour office opening hours are 8am-5pm Mon-Fri. Please call 07789 273626 if the office is locked

Harbour launch Pegasus has had her engine serviced and the engine is now back on-board.

We will look to fit new tubes to Pegasus next week when they arrive with a view to launching her next weekend – weather permitting

The storm boards have been removed at Porthloo

Retail unit 1 on the quay (currently Kier staff room) is available for rent from the Duchy. Please contact Hugh House for full details

Talks are on-going to determine the use for the additional dredged material (approx. 1,500t) at Porthloo.

Items will be de-mobilised as and when shipping/weather allows. We expect much of this to be completed by landing craft.

SHIPPING AND QUAY EXTENSION (KIER)

Works to install the fendering continues. All upright fenders are installed and work is now concentrating on the stair (angle) fenders

The North cardinal mark will remain in place until the divers have completed their work

One concrete bay remains to be poured and will be done this weekend or early next week

The sector light has been removed from the end of the quay (not the new 23m section) and will not be replaced

Lighting to illuminate the end of the quay is being undertaken by a lighting tower until the new lamp post is installed with a new light fitted to it

The 4 large moorings at Nut Rock, Innisidgen and behind the quay remain in place

The steel pontoon sections remain – one of which is being used for the fendering works. In time they will be dismantled and sent back to the mainland

QUAY WIDENING

Concreting has continued on the slabs and preparation work will continue in the coming week for further concrete pours

The granite facing sets are now being installed to the new wave wall. This work is slow going and will continue throughout the week.

Access platforms on the seaward side are to be fitted to the new wave walls when weather/tides allow which will allow access for the granite facing blocks to be installed

KIER BUILDING

Ticket Office/Check in: PA system, electrics and some painting still to complete.

Chiller/Freezer: These are operational. Guttering work completed and door coverings finished

Freight Store: New doors are on and work to install the internal barriers is on-going
