Two Councillors Chosen To Attend Queen’s Garden Party

Buckingham PalaceTwo councillors who will represent Scilly at one of the Queen’s garden parties at Buckingham Palace in May.

The authority is allocated spaces for four people each year and two members and their partners or guests usually attend.

Last year it was decided that one councillor could go along and claim travel and out-of-pocket expenses, the other attendee would need to pay their own way.

Buckingham Palace suggests that outgoing, rather that new councillors, make the trip as recognition of Council service but their rules prevent a second visit.

That means many elected members from Scilly have already attended.

Cllr Avril Mumford was nominated first and Cllr Fran Grottick will also attend, but will fund her own travel.

Fran told the Full Council meeting that attendance offers a chance to network and spread the word about Scilly.
