Islands’ Partnership To Organise Next Year’s Supply Scilly Event

islands partnership logoThe Islands’ Partnership has taken over the organisation of the popular ‘Supply Scilly’ event next year.

The exhibition is a chance for mainland suppliers to present their offerings to Scilly’s tourism businesses under one roof.

It has been run by Tregarthen’s Hotel in previous years, but David Jackson from the Partnership says the planned changes at the hotel, taking place this winter, mean that’s not been possible.

The IP is running Scilly Business week again in March but it doesn’t seem that month will work for the trade fair.

Instead, they’re planning to run Supply Scilly on Wednesday and Thursday 24th and 25th February.

David say the only suitable date for attendees is during February, as many suppliers are already booked in to attend other exhibitions next winter.

He says they’ve provisionally booked the Town Hall as a fall back venue in case the hotel isn’t available.

David says the feedback from suppliers who have attended in the past is that they genuinely value the event. They’ve told him they would come over anyway and “do it off their own backs” if something wasn’t organised.

He says the Partnership is pleased to pick up the running of the event so it can take place again.

    Hi Good Afternoon

    My name is Steve Abbott from Abbotts (S.W.) Ltd, I have been organising the Scilly Trade Show for many years prior to Tregarthens taking over the mantel and getting the show to the new level it has been in the last 2 years. We will be very happy to support the Show if it continues, however as you indicated March will be difficult this year,with Easter being early falling on the weekend of 25th March and the Expo West Show at Wadebridge is the first week of March. The other issue with February is the 10th and 11th is the Source Show in Exeter and it is important to miss Half Term as a lot of Islanders take this time to escape with family before the season kicks in at Easter.
    We contemplated on several occasions, but not following through, of moving the exhibition until after Easter, as most businesses will be up and running and will have a clearer idea of their requirements for the forth coming season and I think would be in a better position to take more advantage of Deals offered by exhibitors.
    If this was agreed as a possibility may I suggest a couple of dates 6/7th April or 13/14th April. Another point to consider is that the Exhibition brings to the Islands an additional 30ish exhibitors who need feeding and watering.
