Hugh Town Christmas Festival Returning

christmas lights 2014The Islands’ Partnership has announced more of the attractions that will make up the second Christmas Festival in Hugh Town on the evening of Wednesday 23rd December.

The event will kick off with a ceremonial switch on of the Christmas tree lights in The Park at 5pm with carol singing around the tree.

That will be followed by a sing-along from the massively popular movie Frozen and carols with some members of the Scilly Sirens.

The islands’ longest established band, The Steam Band, will perform live at 6.15pm.

Earlier in the day children will be encouraged to enter a gingerbread house baking contest.

There are two age groups – under or over 11-year olds. Entries need to be at the Bishop and Wolf by 3pm and they’ll be judged at 7pm.

The street market will be bigger this year too. The IP has bought ‘market stalls’ which will be rented out.

Executive Director David Jackson says the event will offer, “a great opportunity for visitors to mingle with the local community and enjoy the taste of a Scilly Christmas.”

If you want to book a stall to sell goods, you can contact the Partnership on 424036.
