St Mary’s Harbour Improvement Project Weekly Update – 04 December

Quay Extension:

4th Slab poured – 8 remain.

Fenders – 16.5 of 19 pre-drilled, installation continues this week.

Quay Widening:

12 of 13 Wall panels installed.

External access platforms 2 of 13 installed.

Removal of existing harbour wall 95% complete.

Dredged material has been used this past weekend to form a temporary ramp during

low tide outside of the wall to facilitate the 45T Excavator lifting in the final pre-cast

block and wave wall units. The ramp was then removed within the same tide.

Harbourside building:

Ticket Office – Intercom remaining.

Freight Offices – New DB installed works to install chiller works & electrical feed ongoing.

Freight Store – Cladding to external walls 85% complete, remainder follows sliding door installation.

Internal ply panelling complete.

Balcony – Balustrades –installation complete, decking ongoing.

Chiller – Testing and commissioning on-going.

Parting Carn:

Batching concrete for quay extension and widening foundations continues.

Demobilisation ongoing.

Stone cutting for new wall installation to quay widening.

Fender pre-assembly.


Bag filling operations for delivery to Parting Carn or direct to the quay ongoing.

Recycling of the dredged material at Porthloo continues using Tractor Trailer and a Wheeled Excavator.

All large boulders will be retained and used in the sea defences.
