St Martin’s Recommended By Popular Boating Magazine
The ”sleepy English island,” as they term it, has made number three on their list of island destinations around the UK.
Their author is quite loose with that definition. Three of the recommended islands are in Brittany, another is south of the Loire estuary, while Cape Clear in Ireland is also suggested along with Vlieland in the Netherlands.
They write that St Martin’s feels “soothingly remote even though its south and west coasts are barely a mile from Tresco and St Mary’s.”
They add that the south side of St Martin’s slopes towards the sun and sea, with magnificent views across the archipelago.
Topping the list was Sark in the Channel Islands. Skomer in Wales and Coll in Scotland were also featured.
