Churchtown Farm Wins Best Small Business Award

churchtown farm st martinsChurchtown Farm is the Best Small Business in the Westcountry.

The St Martin’s flower exporters won their category at the Western Morning News awards in Exeter last night.

Hilary and Andrew Julian took on the farm in 1986 and 7 years later, they started selling their flowers direct to the public by post, with their ‘Scent from the Islands’ business, a departure from the tradition of supplying wholesalers.

Their family business is now operated by son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Zoe.

The Julian’s have won a number of awards including The Federation of Small Businesses Small Business Champions in 2005.

In 2008 and 2009, the Independent Newspaper placed them 5th out of the top 50 florists in the country.

BBC Wildlife Magazine readers have also voted them the top ethically-produced cut flowers supplier.
