St Mary’s Harbour Report November 1st

Here’s the latest harbour news from Alan Hartwell at the Harbour Office.

The Scillonian III has just one week left for this season. Her visits on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will all depart St Mary’s at 1500

The toilets have reopened after investigations into the slow pipework were carried out

Three of the four showers on the quay are now closed for the winter. The remaining cubicle will remain open throughout the rest of the year

The summer mooring term has now come to an end and all mooring holders, unless arranged with the harbour office, will need to remove their vessels as soon as possible so our maintenance program can be carried out unhindered. As with previous years we would be happy to assist in the removing of strops, we understand they are often tighter than expected. Winter moorings are available so please call if we can help

Over the coming weeks parts of the pontoon will be removed and stored for the winter

The penultimate ‘tie in’ pour for the extension was poured last week. The level now reaches the bottom of the original coping stones. When these stones are removed it will allow Kier to lay the final pour and top layer

Works to drill the mounting holes for the many fenders has started today

The landing craft ‘Morlander’ and ‘Severn Sins’ are still working to deliver aggregates and cement to the site whilst removing plant and other equipment which is no longer needed. ISSCo vessels are also bringing goods where possible

The four heavy moorings at Nut Rock, Innisidgen and behind the quay remain in place and will do for the foreseeable future

The foundation works are 50% complete and work continues over low tides. This will entail some vehicular disruption which we are keeping a keen eye on. If any grievances are found, please contact the Harbour Office in the first instance

10 blocks have been laid in the area and the development of the wall can clearly be seen
