Scilly’s Tourism Brochure And Website Win Awards
The printed guide and website at visitislesofscilly.com gained Gold and Silver respectively at the British Destinations Conference in Blackpool earlier this month.
Judges picked the five best examples for each category and then emailed them to 22,000 people who requested brochures from association member sites.
Judges said our brochure won Gold because they felt it was clean, classic, evocative and very fitting of the destination.
They said the cover image “draws you in” and “you want to be there.”
Cornwall was first in the website category but Scilly took Silver with the judges complimenting the site as “visually striking and well thought out.”
They also loved the high-quality photography and contemporary design, which includes cards and sticky note headers. That, they said, made it intuitive.
Executive Director of the Islands’ Partnership David Jackson is delighted with the commendation.
He says it reinforces the brochure as “a quality piece of print.”
David was unable to attend the event as he was picking up the trophy for Best Domestic Destination at the Family Travel Awards in London.
It’s not the first time the islands’ tourism brochure has been recognised in the competition.
In 2010 and then in 2011 we also gained the Carrier Direct Award for Chris Hall’s cover image of a boat in crystal clear water.
