council crisis award oct 2015Scilly’s Council has won an award in an event designed to test joint working between local authorities throughout the West Country.

22 councils sent representatives to Taunton last week to test their handling of hypothetical crises.

The teams of six had to calmly cope with scenarios, including the visit of President Obama and the sale of a poisonous pigeon pie.

Scilly was commended for the Best Presentation and Senior Manager Richard Burraston picked up the award for the islands.

The overall winner was a joint entry from East Devon, Exeter and Teignbridge councils.
