Health Centre Launch Annual Flu Vaccination Programme
St Mary’s Health Centre is running a flu vaccination programme again this year.
The sessions will be held on Saturday 3rd October between 10am and 1pm and again on Wednesday 7th between 4pm and 6pm.
Fran Clark says everyone aged over 65 years of age and islanders with long term health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, heart, liver or kidney disease are usually advised to have a ‘flu vaccination.
Fran says it’s a good idea for carers to consider having the vaccine too, although Health Centre staff are only able to vaccinate those carers who are formally registered.
Their team will also be giving the pneumonia vaccine at the same clinic to those patients aged over 65 who haven’t had it before.
Staff will contact off-islanders to arrange times for the injections on their own islands. Residents of St Agnes, Tresco, Bryher and St Martin’s may attend either St Mary’s clinic if they prefer.
Children will be given the nasal spray and their parents will be contacted about this.
Fran says you can call the Health Centre on 422 628 if you have questions or you are unsure about your eligibility.
They may be able to offer private vaccinations, too.
