St Mary’s Café Named Best In The Region

juliets gardenJuliet’s Garden is officially the best café in Cornwall.

The St Mary’s eatery, which was opened by Juliet May 32 years ago, won their category at the Great Cornish Food Awards ceremony, held at at Trelissick House near Truro on Monday.

They were up against two other finalists – the Waymarker at Constantine and Woods Café at Cardinham Woods.

All three had to undergo a rigorous judging process, including a visit by ‘mystery shoppers’ over the summer season.

In summing up their reasons for awarding the top marks, judges said they dined at Juliet’s Garden during a busy sunny lunchtime, “and it worked like a well-oiled machine, with very good service from all members of the team.”

They said the attention to detail in all other areas was exceptional and the full ‘customer experience’ was very well thought through and maximised the truly breath-taking setting.

Juliet says the staff are all very pleased and proud of themselves.

The latest accolade adds to the Gold award won by the café in the Cornwall Tourism Awards in 2014.

Congratulations to Juliet and all the staff. You’ve come such a long way from your beginnings but the quality of all your food and the facilities you have developed over the years are a real tribute to your efforts. We can remember when a visit to the loo was an expedition to the lower garden!!
Best wishes for the future from two regular visitors – you are always our first port of call.
