Search For Missing Man On Tresco Continues

tresco from aboveThe search for a missing Tresco Estate worker is continuing on the island this evening (10pm Sunday).

Josh Clayton is 25 years old, white and slim. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black jeans when he was last seen at around 1.30am on Sunday.

During the day around 50 people, including island residents and emergency service personnel, have been crisscrossing the island to try and find Josh.

The police helicopter and a police dog have also been employed and Coastguard team members from St Mary’s travelled over to Tresco to assist.

Volunteers had covered much of the island by nightfall, including Piper’s Hole.

The St Mary’s lifeboat was launched just after 5pm to conduct a search along the coastline.

Tresco islanders have been asked to search their sheds and outbuildings to see if Mr Clayton is inside.

This is such a terrible situation in a small community with close relationships. My heart goes out to his parents, partner and friends. I’d also like to acknowledge the difficult situation that the Estate managers, and other staff are dealing with as they fear for their colleague while continuing to provide for their guests. God bless you all.
