Cricket: St Martin’s v Bugle

st martins cricket pitch sign 2Report by Colin Daly

When people in the national dress of various countries turned up at our cricket ground we thought it might be St. Martin’s versus the Rest of the World but it turned out to be just our old friends from Bugle in fancy dress.

Under a bright blue sky with some scudding clouds it was decided to play twenty overs and St. Martin’s went in to bat first.

They got off to a determined start but soon lost wickets. M. Clement stabilised affairs and went on to score an outstanding 68 not out, the final total being 125 for 9.

Under a lowering sky Bugle too lost early wickets including a dramatic run out but soon began to score freely and passed the total required in the fifteenth over.

So all repaired to the Sevenstones for refreshment and something to eat. There were various talking points from the match but all was resolved in good humour.

It was Bugle’s 29th tour and we enjoyed their usual fines court.
