Scilly Donations Sent To Greek Island Refugees

syrian refugee boxesYou can’t measure or quantify islanders’ kindness, but Georgia May has some statistics which show how much locals have been touched by the plight of refugees seeking safety in Europe.

On Saturday Georgia appealed for goods for the mainly Syrian migrants who have made it to the Greek island of Kos.

Many islanders dropped off donations at 49 Degrees.

Georgia sent off an incredible 44 box-loads, or 44 kg, of donated clothing and toiletries on Tuesday.

She says, “All boxes have been safely packed and sorted and are now on their way to the people who need them.”

She’s grateful to all the donors and in particular islanders who gave cash to meet postal costs.

Those charges came to £800.

Georgia wants to thank Euan and Alexander Rodger who weighed and labelled each box.
