A guide dog will be named Samson, after one of our islands.

The Guide Dog for the Blind Association has chosen a name for the puppy, which was sponsored by Tresco and Bryher school pupils.

In May the youngsters met a guide dog walker and his Labradoodle called Dingle, who’s in training. Joe, her walker, had heard about the fund raising and decided to call into school.

Tresco school base leader Susannah Gates says the charity chose the name Samson over other options including Treasure and Gimble.
