Roadworks Start On St Agnes

agnes lane flowers 2Roadworks start on St Agnes today. When they are completed the island’s lanes should be good for another forty or fifty years of use.

The resurfacing of the 2.25 metre-wide concrete road is being undertaken as part of the Duchy of Cornwall’s rolling programme of off-island road repairs.

The Duchy is meeting a substantial part of the costs but some of the cash is coming from the monies secured for the new Island Hall project.

By the end of the week the section from Plumb Well to the Quay should be complete.

Deputy land Steward Luke Humphries says they’re trying to make this work “future proof” by adding ducting for water and BT communications.

Luke says that pedestrian and vehicle diversions have been set up to make sure that movement around the island is disrupted as little as possible.
