The Islands’ Partnership say they are “delighted” by the response to this year’s photography competition.

It’s the second time that our tourism body has encouraged both visitors and locals to submit their best images of Scilly.

In 2014 there were 210 entrants who sent over 800 pictures and Stephen Burbidge of Norfolk won the overall competition with a picture of a puffin.

More than 250 entrants have already been counted for this year’s contest, which closed to entries last week.

The categories were revamped this year and each inhabited island now has its own class.

Carolyn Garman from the Partnership says a group of photographic and marketing professionals will select a shortlist for each group.

Then, from next month, the public will be able to vote for their favourite in each of the groups on the website.

The overall winner will receive a bed and breakfast break and return travel on the Scillonian III.

Carolyn says it is clear that visitors and residents get behind the competition with lots of enthusiasm.

The Islands’ Partnership intends to feature many of the best entries in next year’s tourism guide and the images will also be used in marketing and promoting Scilly online before next season.
