Police Still Trying To Catch Boat Fuel Thief

st marys quay harbourside1St Mary’s Police say that they are now patrolling in plain clothes to try and catch a boat fuel thief ‘red-handed.’

There have been more reports of fuel theft from St Mary’s Harbour this week.

It was stolen from two commercial vessels sometime over the last 2 days. 13 incidents have now been recorded over a 2-month period.

Nearly all the fuel theft has been on St Mary’s with one reported incident on St Martin’s.

Sergeant Colin Taylor says that his team have now altered their shift patterns to try and find the people who have been doing this.

Officers are patrolling the harbour into the early hours of the morning and aren’t necessarily wearing uniforms, so their presence is not so noticeable he says.

what a pathetic set of comments. Law and order can only be achieved by a community working together. The police can only operate effectively if the they have the support of the community. Why don’t you set up an Island watch group, eyes and ears to help your local boys(or girls) in blue.

Just a little too much righteous indignation there Ewart, just make it easy on yourself after all hydrocarbons addiction isn’t of itself a crime you can get help for it! You could be petrol free by Christmas with the right mentoring. Do the right thing you know you want to.

Whilst Carrot’s comments that ‘well everyone seems to know who it is’ could not be put forward as a cogent basis for the return of Capital Punishment, should someone not be having a quiet word in the ear of your friendly Police Sergeant if this is supposedly common knowledge because the continuing reporting of this issue is doing nothing to reassure the people you are trying to attract to your beautiful Islands as being the safe haven I have known them to be for the past 47 years.

Of all the blatant evidence and eye witness reports with regards to fuel theft, why haven’t the perps been arrested already, finger prints taken and charged? They are continuing to do it because getting away with crimes over here is all too easy now and they know it!
