Perfect Weather For St Martin’s Daymark Dash
A returning visitor won the annual Daymark Dash on St Martin’s at the weekend.
Forty people, including twelve children, took part in the 6.2km run from Hotel Quay to the iconic navigational aid on Sunday afternoon.
Richard Price Thomas finished first in just over 28 minutes.
The first islander to complete the run up to Chapel Down was Simon Slater. He came in 6th.
Organiser Neil Wood says the weather was perfect and helped ensure a well-attended event.
It’s not officially for charity and staging the dash is a casual arrangement between islanders and visitors.
That’s because organising a formal run would require insurance and paperwork which, it’s thought, would make it unviable.
