Scilly’s School Maintains High GCSE Grades

school summer 1Every Five Islands School pupil who entered for GCSE exams this year achieved five or more passes, including maths and English. That compares with 98.6% nationally.

And 74% of Scilly’s pupils have achieved five or more passes at the higher A* to C grades, which is almost identical to last year’s result. Across England, 69% of pupils gained those grades.

In English, 89% of our children got grades A* to C and the figure for maths was 84%. Again, this is well above the national result of 65% and 63%.

But extra praise goes to this year’s top performing student, Henry Balkwill Ruddick of St Mary’s. Henry delivered an impressive set of three A* and six A grades.

Head teacher Linda Todd told Radio Scilly that all of the school’s students should feel proud of their achievements and she wishes them the best of luck as they head off to their new sixth forms and colleges on the mainland next month.
