Scilly Lifeboat Tows Yacht Into St Mary’s Following Engine Failure
St Mary’s Lifeboat was launched yesterday (Monday) evening to assist a yacht in difficulty.
Falmouth Coastguard say that the call came in at around 7pm from the boat which had suffered engine failure. The crew were unable to set sail as there was very little wind.
The lifeboat towed the Rhi-Ann into to St Mary’s from a position of around 4.5 nautical miles off St Martins. There were 3 people on board the stricken vessel.
This evening (Tuesday) islanders and visitors will be able to board the Lifeboat when the RNLI volunteers take it to New Grimsby and then Bryher’s Church Quay.
