Sailors Safe After Scilly Lifeboat Responds To Yacht Fire Call

Lifeboat volunteers from St Mary’s were called out this evening to assist a yacht in trouble. The crew of the 42-foot vessel, ‘Trinket” had reported an onboard fire.

Falmouth Coastguard say that the exhaust system appears to have overheated. The 3 crew members had extinguished the fire by time that the RNLI arrived at the scene, which was approximately 12 miles east of Peninnis. The stricken yacht has been towed back to St Mary’s. Falmouth Coastguard say that the sailors are all safe and well and are enjoying a pint at The Mermaid following their ordeal.
