Scilly’s Police Sergeant A Hit In Poland
The German-based broadcaster, Deutchse Welle, has produced a two-minute TV feature on Sgt Colin Taylor’s attempts to recruit another police officer using Facebook.
That publicity resulted in the appointment of PC Nic Gould.
The report describes Scilly as a “paradise for law enforcement officers” where we don’t lock our doors, there are no thieves and there’s just one “slight’ offence once every week, often caused by gulls or seals!
The footage starts with Colin clearing up litter strewn outside the Police station after seagulls split a bin bag.
It also features him chatting in Hugh Street with islander Nan Cons, before he greets passengers arriving on the quay from the Scillonian.
All of the interviews have been dubbed into Polish.
Bryher-based Grzegorz Grazyna Skrzypek, who operates that island’s community website, hails from Andrychów in the south of Poland and he says he’s watched the Polish-language report.
He tells Radio Scilly that it is definitely a positive promotion of the islands.
