Second Attempt For This Year’s Round The Island Race
Last weekend’s long-standing annual sailing challenge was called off on the morning of the event on Sunday because the winds were too strong.
Scillonian Sailing Club Treasurer Ian Sibley says the forecast looks better this time.
Ian says anyone with a yacht, whether high-end or homebuilt, can enter.
Some visiting sailors like to include the clockwise circuit of St Mary’s and crossing to St Agnes as part of their annual visit.
Ian says it’s a shame when it gets postponed because not all of last week’s entrants are still here. But if you did register last week, your number is still valid.
Any new entries can be made at the TIC.
Ian says Tresco has traditionally provided some visiting sailing talent and a distinct Tresco-entrant cup has been awarded before.
There’ll be a briefing at the Sailing Club at 9.30am and the race starts at 10.30am on Sunday.
