Former St Martin’s Hotel Owner Dies Aged 68

peter sykes 2016The man who was the owner of the St Martin’s Hotel when it ceased trading has died.

Peter Sykes was 68 and living in the United States.

A statement on the Facebook page of the Bath estate agency that he founded says he died on 29th July.

Back in February 2013, three hotel staff lost their jobs when he decided to liquidate the company.

Although the hotel gained a Michelin star, the last years of Mr Syke’s ownership of the businesses were beset by problems.

A year-long shut down for renovation was publicised but did not happen. The work was cancelled after a judge forced the sale of the hotel in 2011 on behalf of the estate of his wife, Penny.
