St Mary’s Harbour Improvement Project Weekly Update From Kier

Week Ending 31 July 2015

Quay Extension:

Aggregate fill of Level 6 is now complete. Level 7 blocks will now commence end of this week weather permitting when construction will be clearly visible above sea level.


Quay Widening:

Clearing of the boulder field and construction of the ramp will start week commencing 03 August 2015.


Harbourside building:

Waterproofing of the Ticket Office, plaster board and first fix electrics is complete. Rendering and wall skimming this week in preparation for second fix electrics and decoration.

Recently instructed New Chiller Store Structural Steelwork currently under fabrication. Erection to commence week commencing17 Aug 15.

Waiting Room – Flooring installation this week with skirting board and new seating.

Freight Store has been suspended to 01 Sep 15.

Freight Office – Skimming and first fix electrics complete, decoration, counter & shelving fabrication this week followed by vinyl flooring.


Parting Carn:

Recycling – Installation of a crusher is pending delivery of parts.



Re-use of the material at Porthloo is now anticipated to commence this weekend or early next week dependent on the weather and tides. This will entail filling up to 200 bags. The covering will be replaced at the end of each session. These bags will be utilised in the Quay Widening.
