Make A Model To Support Air Ambulance

Cornwall Air Ambulance 2015Islanders and visitors are being encouraged to make a model of the Cornwall Air Ambulance. But there’s a twist – you can only use items picked up off the beach.

Air Ambulance Ambassador Helen Sams hopes adults and children will recycle some rubbish in the creative crafting challenge.

The prize contest will be divided into three categories; under 10’s, 11-15 year olds and 16 and over.

Helen says the Memory Café attendees will enter under that last category.

You can pick up an entry form at the TIC, Farm Deli or Old Town Inn and the £1 fee will fund the charity. And you can take your entry to the Old Town Inn on 31st August, in time for the 3.30pm judging.

Last Wednesday Helen joined PC Faye Webb, who is walking China’s Great Wall for the charity, and St Mary’s fundraisers Sam and Jan Guy, at the Air Ambulance’s Newquay Airport HQ.

The Duchess of Cornwall, their patron, met with the islanders before she unveiled their latest aircraft.

The new MD902 ‘Explorer’ aircraft uses a call sign including the letters ‘IOS’ in recognition of the callouts they attend in Scilly.

Helen says she had no idea that she was meeting Camilla beforehand, but admits in retrospect her invitation letter requesting skirts and not trousers was possibly a clue that royalty would be there.
