Outdoor Theatre Tour Takes In A Third Island This Year
Five nights of outdoor theatre in Scilly starts this evening as the Miracle Theatre Company begin their annual tour of the islands.
And their ‘spaghetti western musical,’ the Magnificent Three, takes in a new location – the Karma Hotel on St Martin’s.
The show includes dance and songs performed by a cast of six.
Some of the music will be played live, but actors Hannah Stephens and Ciaran Clarke say it’s not your traditional musical. They described it more as, “a funny play with songs.”
The cast have changed some aspects of the show, based on audience reaction each night.
And Miracle is taking the public’s opinion seriously. They’ve even produced feedback forms, which will be available after each production.
Not all of the cast were familiar with the western genre before rehearsal. Ciaran says the director, Bill Scott, got them to watch some old films to get a feeling for the concept.
And the cast is looking forward to extending the tour to a third island.
Ciaran says they’ve done Tresco and St Mary’s for many years and it’s exciting to be heading over to St Martin’s for the first time. And Hannah says they’re keen to extend this even further to St Agnes and Bryher in the future.
The first show is on at Karma Hotel at 7pm tonight. Tomorrow it moves to Tresco and the performances continue at the Chaplaincy Gardens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
