Lifeboat Called To Stricken Yacht

lifeboat May 2015St Mary’s lifeboat was called out last night just after 10pm to help a French yacht that has lost its rudder.

Falmouth Coastguard says it will be “a long tow.” The vessel got into difficulty 60 miles north west of Scilly and they are not expected back until around midday.

There are three crewmembers on board the Mauli, which was travelling to Cork in force 5-6 conditions when it happened.

The regular lifeboat, The Whiteheads, is undergoing maintenance work this week and the crew is using a temporary vessel, the relief boat Osier.
