Co-op Customers Urged To Check Accounts After Error

coop signCo-op customers are being urged to check their bank accounts after hundreds of thousands of shoppers across the country were accidently charged twice.

The company says anyone who used a credit or debit card to pay for food on Tuesday may have encountered the problem.

They’ve apologised and promised to refund the extra charges as well as any expenses incurred by customers.

The refunds will be made directly to the affected accounts.

Co-op says they don’t know exactly how many people are affected and not everyone who paid for goods on Tuesday will have been double charged.

However, Radio Scilly was contacted this morning by a St Mary’s resident who said he had been double charged and his card company was dealing with the matter.

Customers should see the money refunded within the next 24 hours but any problems should be reported to the Co-Op’s customer care line on 0800 069 6727.

Hi, I was charged twice but by the time I’d checked my account Coop had already refunded, so no problem! Malcolm
