Women Complete Scilly To Sennen Surfboat Crossing
Four Cornish medical professionals have successfully rowed a surfboat from Scilly to Sennen. It’s the first time anyone has done that.
Paula Bright, Ruth Creamer, Alice Bane and Tina Pascoe are all members of the Perranporth Surf Lifesaving Club.
The women, who set off from St Mary’s at midday yesterday, made the crossing in 6 hours and 32 minutes.
The women have shown dedication to the challenge. They’d originally planned to make the crossing on Monday, but the conditions weren’t suitable, so they went back to Cornwall and returned to the islands on Wednesday.
Paula says a highlight of the journey came at the halfway stage, when they could see land in both directions, the sun was out and AC/DC was playing!
The women have raised over £4,000 for their club and Cancer Research UK and they hope to increase that to £5,000 in total.
