Great Turnout For Garrison Cup Match
The organiser of yesterday’s Garrison Cup cricket match says they definitely “got lucky” with the weather. And Kane Goddard is happy with the turn out of people for the game because he says didn’t think they we would have that much support.
What was intended to be a 25-overs fixture between a combined off-island side and St Mary’s was extended with the teams playing 30 overs each.
Sam Hicks, the off-islands Captain, won the toss and put St Mary’s in to bat first. Rafe Ward made an excellent 52 with James Francis achieving 38. St Mary’s were all out for 135.
The off-islands’ better bowlers were J Benson getting 3 for 18 and Tony Goddard delivering 4 for 27 off 5 overs.
In reply the off-islands reached the total with two overs to spare, with J Benson making 48 and Ian Hamilton making 53 not out. The pick of the bowlers for St Mary’s were Mark Hicks, taking 2 for 9 off 3 overs and Alex Le Friec, taking 1 for 29 off 6 overs.
