Second Shout In Two Days For Scilly Lifeboat

The St. Mary’s lifeboat has been launched for the second time in 2 days. At around 3.40pm The Whiteheads went to assist a yacht that had sunk near the Blockhouse on Tresco. Falmouth coastguard say a lifeboat crew member had noticed the vessel was in trouble, around 100m off shore. The lifeboat, under the command of Stuart Hitchens, checked to confirm there were no persons on board and then spoke to the owners who were onshore. Scilly’s RNLI Press Officer Steve Watt says the lifeboat crew then launched the Y Boat. That’s the inflatable kept on board the lifeboat. They towed the stricken yacht closer inshore in shallow water away from the flooding tide.
