St Mary’s Lifeboat was launched at lunchtime on Wednesday to help with a medical evacuation from a vessel, half a mile north-west of Shipman Head Down. RNLI Press Officer Steve Watt says The Whiteheads was called out at approximately midday to The White Dolphin, a 55-foot ketch. The patient is thought to have sustained spinal and head injuries after falling between decks. Falmouth Coastguard understand that he’s a French national. 2 Lifeboat crew went on board and stabilised the injured sailor. He was then taken on board the lifeboat where he was winched up to the RNAS Culdrose helicopter. The patient was then transferred to Treslike Hospital by air.
