Survey Shows Buzza Bus Popularity
99% of elderly or disabled islanders find the drivers of the Buzza Bus either friendly or extremely friendly. And four-fifths of users believe that the Age UK operated service has a positive impact on their lives.
Those are two findings from a survey of 200 islanders who use the electric, dial-a-ride bus service, which carries 7,000 passengers around St Mary’s annually.
20% of riders have special mobility needs.
Most respondents felt that the £2 fee was a reasonable charge, with one respondent claiming that fare was more favourable than taxi charges.
Most users are happy with the hours of operation, with some locals suggesting the introduction of a Monday afternoon or Wednesday morning service and a service between 5 and 6pm.
There were just a handful of gripes recorded. One local claimed that it was “practically booked all the time with regular slots” or unavailable.
