Charity Lighthouse Challenge To Visit Scilly Next Month

ed peppit cyclistA multiple sclerosis sufferer is coming to Scilly on a charity challenge to visit every onshore and offshore lighthouse in the UK.

Ed Pepitt was diagnosed with the condition in 2012. He’s on day 16 of a 3-month cycle ride covering 3,500 miles around Britain and is hoping to raise £25,000 for the MS Shift charity.

Ed’s love of lighthouses stems from his childhood, staying at his grandmother’s house in Dungeness.

He says he’d always planned to cycle round the coast to see all of them and wants to do it before his health means it isn’t possible.

He’s planning to be in Scilly in the first week of June and he’s hoping that he’ll be able to get a lift out to the islands’ lighthouses if the weather is good enough.

Ed is no stranger to Scilly – he’s been bringing his family here for years and he says the islands had to feature in his plans because Bryher is his “favourite place on earth.”

You can support and follow Ed at thebeaconbike.co.uk and if you can help with his transport to our offshore lights, please contact him through Radio Scilly.
