Four islanders ran the Plymouth Half Marathon yesterday.

It was a hot day but two locals, Jeremy Pearson and Amelia Mills, achieved personal best times on the 13-mile circuit of the city.

Jeremy finished in 1hr 33m 45s, which is a minute faster than before, while Amelia Mills cut 5 minutes off her last half marathon, crossing the line in 1hr 43m.

Tessa Lloyd and Mark Pritchard both came in at just under two hours.

Last year Amelia was unable to get to Plymouth due to fog, so instead she ran circuits of St Mary’s along with Rhiannon Wallace.

Amelia says the Plymouth run was much harder than she anticipated but the support along the route was “awesome.”

And he says she might try a full marathon at some point soon, but first she’s focussing on a few more half marathons coming up later this year.

Amelia is close to raising her £500 target in aid of the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
