St Mary’s Police have charged a local man with alleged drink driving.

He was originally arrested back in early March after failing a roadside breath test. There can be a wait for blood alcohol results because samples are sent to the mainland for testing.

The male, aged in his 40s, will be appearing at St Mary’s Magistrates at 10am on 15th May 2015.

Sergeant Colin Taylor says that over the past 13 months, 6 people have lost their licenses through drink driving in Scilly.

Colin says the police will show no tolerance of this practice on the islands and if officers become aware of a potential drink driver, wherever they may habitually drive, they will focus attentions and adapt their patrol to catching them.
