Theatre Club Change Summer Play Choice

theatre town hallSt Mary’s Theatre Club have changed their summer play because there weren’t enough actors available to comfortably stage their chosen production.

Chairman Gail Sibley says they’ll now be performing Duets, a series of four short playlets by the playwright Peter Quilter.

They had hoped to stage Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘Table Manners’ but Gail said this new production will be more manageable, especially as some of the cast members are taking to the stage for the first time this year.

Kevin Leeman will be directing.

The six actors and actresses who auditioned will be enough for Duets, which Gail says explores different aspects of love and relationships.

It’s hoped that this show can be performed on the floor of the Town Hall, ‘in the round’ and closer to the audience, says Gail.

That’s because the stage may not be available during the summer, as survey work on the equipment needs to be carried out by the Council.
