Scilly’s Brownies Helping In War Against Dog Fouling

dog poo signScilly’s Brownies are being asked to do their bit in the war against dog fouling.

Yesterday evening Dog Warden Maggie Perkovic and Council Environmental Officer David Currie spoke to the girls at their weekly meeting.

Dog fouling remains a concern for many islanders and the problem has been highlighted in recent surveys by the Community Safety Partnership.

Maggie says it’s important to encourage responsible ownership at an early age.

The fifteen youngsters have been asked to produce a poster for next week’s session, which will be judged the following week.

Maggie says they understood why dog mess is a problem and the disease associated with it, such as Toxocariasis, which can cause blindness.
