St Mary’s Harbour Extends Free Wi-Fi For Visitors

boats in harbour 2Islanders and visitors can now use free Wi-Fi at St Mary’s Harbour. And the service will become faster and more widely available soon.

St Mary’s Harbourmaster Dale Clark says visitors to the quay ask about internet access more than anything else.

The new system covers the yacht grid and can be received on some devices as far away as Speros restaurant at Porthmellon. Extra transmitters will soon extend its reach.

The harbour’s internet was previously available only to sailors who had paid to moor there but they’ve now made it free and easy for anyone to access without a password.

Dale feels with more smart phone use, and particularly the increase in apps for sailors, there should be more free Wi-Fi access in Scilly as there’s clearly a demand.
