Talented Organist Giving Recital In Scilly

Luke Bond Organist TruroThe organist who accompanied the Truro Cathedral Choir on their tour of the islands last year is coming back to give a solo recital.

Luke Bond, the Assistant Director of Music at Truro Cathedral, will be performing at St Mary’s Parish Church on Friday 26th June at 8 pm.

He’s been invited back by the Chaplain, Canon Paul Miller, who says he’s delighted to have engaged Luke.

“He is a fine organist and this will be a wonderful opportunity to hear such a highly regarded musician,” says Paul.

Luke began his organ playing career at Gloucester Cathedral when he was just 17. Since then he has held posts at Bristol Cathedral, the Collegiate Church of St Mary Warwick, and Truro Cathedral.

He’s played at St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the Symphony Hall, Birmingham. And he’s undertaken solo tours abroad to Russia and Sweden for the British Council.

The visit is being jointly supported by The Scilly Lottery and the Bell Rock Hotel.

Tickets for the recital will cost £6 and are available at the Tourist Information Centre from the beginning of June or on the door.
