The redundant Moorwell incinerator should be gone by the autumn.

The Town Hall has advertised nationally for interested companies to pitch for the work.

The Council has set aside up to £590,000 to pay the successful contractor to demolish and remove the structure, which was built in 1976.

It ceased operation in December after the Council decided to ship off waste to the mainland, rather than burn some of that material here.

The Authority expects the demolition job to take place over summer, starting on 1st June with a completion date planned for 1st October.
