Kier Holding Open Day On St Mary’s Quay Project

st marys quay harbourside1If you have questions about the ongoing work to extend and widen St Mary’s Harbour, you’ll be able to put them to the project team next week.

Kier Construction is hosting an informal session at the Old Wesleyan Chapel on Wednesday.

Kier’s agent in Scilly, Rients Jan Veldkamp, says it will be similar to the previous event and you’ll be able to walk in and find out how the scheme is progressing.

The dredging work should be completed at the end of next week but with the weather set to turn this weekend, that operation is likely to be suspended until conditions improve.

It’s still unclear how long the entire project will take to complete.

Plans for the quay widening have been revised after contaminants were found near Rat Island. The Marine Management Organisation will need to approve the new scheme before work starts.

The open event is taking place on 1st April at the Old Wesleyan Chapel, between 11am and 1pm.
