Charity Kayak Event Will Help Marine Conservation Society

kayak 1There’s going to be a charity kayaking challenge around our islands in May.

A group of twelve paddlers will undertake a 100km sea circuit of Scilly for the Marine Conservation Society.

Back in January, Radio Scilly reported that the charity was hoping to arrange for a group of supporters to explore the islands by kayak, while raising money for their conservation work.

Georgina Smith, who lives near Hereford, is one of a volunteers coming on the wildlife monitoring and litter-picking trip.

She’s got 49 days to reach her £1,500 target.

Georgina’s never kayaked before and had her first lesson on Valentine’s Day. She reckons that led her instructor to think she was a “sad individual” but she says you have to start sometime.
