Steamship Freight Boss Is Leaving

gry maritha 2The man who manages the Steamship Company’s freight operations is leaving after 16 years with the business.

But Kevin Ayres’ departure won’t affect the massive gig weekend shipping operation. The company says he won’t leave until after the May event.

Kevin has taken a job with a ship-owner on the south coast and he describes it as “an opportune time to further his career.”

In a note to staff he says he’s been through “challenging and interesting times” and Kevin feels that he’s been “extremely fortunate to have worked in and around the Island community.”

Chief Executive Rob Goldsmith has paid tribute to Kevin’s dedication.

Rob will be reviewing the various options for replacing Kevin’s areas of management responsibility soon. And he says he’ll work closely with Kevin to ensure that his departure creates no negative impact for the business or customers.
